Education and Career trends 2022

New year 2022 forecasts and expectations vary based on prevalence of Omicron strain of Covid 19. With the onset of new strain, Covid 19 threat may still continue across the globe. World Health Organization estimates that by the mid-2022, global vaccination rate may reach 70 percent. Corporates may allow employees to continue remote working during 2022. But some of the corporates like Microsoft, Apple, Adobe and City group will allow hybrid mode of working. Some of the European countries and Sharjah decided four-day workdays per week. 

Online and offline mode of working will divide workers in to two groups which may lead to inequality in working places. During 2022, meritorious workers may resign and look for innovative jobs or to try to become entrepreneurs.

2022 will exhibit substantial growth in digitalization and allied technologies. Application of automation and robotics in construction, infrastructure development and IT enabled sectors will be more.  Gartner’s findings reveal that by 2022, automation will exhibit spectacular growth and attain a turnover of 600 billion dollars in the world. Artificial intelligence will facilitate to reduce the operational cost of technology-based business ventures by 30 percent.

Sharing of technologies will show robust growth during 2022. 80 percent of institutions will move on to cloud technologies. During 2021, 15 million workers were resigned from their jobs because of Covid disruptions. But corporates will implement attractive pay packages, reskilling and upskilling processes during 2022 to attract more productive employees. Employers will take in to confidence the feedback from their workers and will explore innovation and future job potentials. Moreover, employees will get better amenities to ensure healthcare, safety and mental health.  By mid-2022 decision for mandatory booster dose of Covid vaccine will become a reality.

Online jobs will require innovative skills. By 2025, 40 percent of employees will attain reskilling process. Digital and soft skills will acquire momentum across the world which includes team management, communication skills and emotional intelligence. Policy frame work will focus more on environmental, social and administrative issues. As part of it, sustainable technologies, construction, infrastructure development, architecture and agribusiness will exhibit spectacular growth during 2022. As a sequel to UN climate summit held at Glasgow recently namely COP26, lot of research opportunities will emerge in the climate study group. Science, technology, engineering and mathematics graduates will get more employment opportunities in vehicles technology, automation, data management, data analytics, digital marketing, sustainable development, etc. After two years of economic recession, management, accounting and insurance sectors will create more job opportunities for commerce, finance, management, accounting and social sciences graduates.  Healthcare technologies, diagnostics, caring, palliative care and paramedical sectors will show spectacular growth across the world during 2022. Agriculture, agribusiness, veterinary science, biotechnology, virology, microbiology, life science, food technology and dairy sciences will show marginal growth. Of the total retail market, food retail will assume nearly 2/3rd of businesses. Food retail, e commerce, computer science, machine learning, block chain technology, culinary arts, hospitality, airline management, etc. will show moderate growth. Social sciences, liberal arts, business economics, management, digital marketing, fashion communication, psychology courses will attract more students.

Fashion technology, new media, digital media, apparel design, molecular biology, embryology, sociology and linguistic studies started attracting science students within the country and abroad. Supply chain management, logistics management, project management and related technologies will create job opportunities in 2022.

United Nations envisaged 2022 as the year for fisheries and aquaculture. Allocation of research funding for aqua culture will be more during 2022. Students pursuing for study abroad will increase in number. Their preferred destinations will include both English speaking and non-English speaking European council countries. More number of students after plus 2 will pursue for under graduate programmes abroad. Students aspiring for Canada and Australian immigration will show substantial increase. Online learning will continue to grow substantially during 2022. The trends reveal that there will be transformation towards platform based digital education towards graduate and post graduate sectors. Skill development and online certificate and diploma programmes will attain the add on programmes to augment the employability of educated youths. Skill development, reskilling and upskilling will be the success mantras for career in 2022.
